Lakech came to Addis Ababa as a young girl, just 7 or 8 years old, seeking treatment for leprosy. What began as a search for healing became a lifelong journey of resilience. Over the years, she lost most of her fingers, parts of her hands, and has a severely deformed leg due to her complications. She now lives with ongoing pain and continues to navigate the lasting effects of her illness every single day.

Lakech never married or had children and she lives alone in a small home near the Korah Kids compound, with no family to rely on. She never had the chance to continue school or build a stable source of income, but she carries a quiet strength and deep gratitude. Sponsorship helps cover her rent, food, and necessary medical care that allows her to live with a sense of dignity and stability.
