Sponsor Hiwot and Koket
Hiwot and Koket are sisters, ages 21 and 19, who have spent most of their lives in Addis Ababa after losing both of their parents at a young age. They were brought to the city by extended family members but were eventually abandoned and now have no known relatives. After years of instability, moving house to house with neighbors or strangers that would take them in, as well as living on the streets, they’ve now been living together in Korah for about three years.
Hiwot has found work selling televisions, though she makes very little. She dreams of becoming a makeup artist and hairstylist. Koket works as a waitress, also making very little. She hopes to join a culinary program where she can learn to make food and cakes. Both sisters are determined, resilient, and eager to continue their education through vocational training, creating stability and independence for their future.
We are looking for a sponsor who can support Hiwot and Koket through rent and vocational school assistance. Because the girls have been able to find some work, they are only in need of partial support and have told us they don’t need help with food. Rent support helps keep the girls in a safe and stable home, giving them the security they’ve fought hard to find. Vocational school support opens doors to long-term independence by helping them gain the skills they need to earn sustainable income.
We are proud of Hiwot and Koket’s hard work and desire to be self reliant and eager to support them. Your sponsorship creates real, lasting change in their lives. Every contribution helps these sisters move closer to stability, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.
